How the BID is Funded

Clonmel BID is funded by a levy of 5% of the annual commercial rates on each rateable property within the BID area. The levy is collected by Tipperary County Council alongside your rates and passed to the BID company. It is fixed at 5% for the full five-year term — no surprises.

What will I pay?

Roughly three-quarters of ratepayers in the BID area pay under €6,000 in rates, meaning a levy of €300 or less per year — less than €6 a week.

Why is it fair?

Every business pays the same percentage. Larger properties contribute more; smaller ones less. Nobody pays more than 5% of their rates bill, and every euro is spent in Clonmel on activity that benefits the whole trading area.

The levy is the foundation, not the ceiling. The BID will actively pursue match-funding from LEADER, Town Centre First, Fáilte Ireland, the Heritage Council, EU programmes, and private sponsorship to multiply what it can deliver.
