Working together for a stronger Clonmel
Clonmel BID (Business Improvement District) is a not-for-profit company set up by Clonmel businesses, for Clonmel businesses, to make our town a better place to shop, work, live, and visit.
What is Clonmel BID?
In May 2026, Clonmel's ratepayers voted by 482 to 85 to establish a Business Improvement District for the town.
Clonmel BID is a not-for-profit company set up by Clonmel businesses, for Clonmel businesses. Established under the Local Government (Business Improvement Districts) Act 2006, it runs for a five-year term from 2026 to 2031 and is funded by a small levy on commercial rates.
It exists to do one thing: make Clonmel town centre a busier, safer and more attractive place to trade.
Over the next five years we will deliver events, marketing, safer streets, better public spaces and practical support for businesses — work that no single business or organisation could achieve alone.
€350,000 a year — invested directly in Clonmel, 2026–2031
Business-led — governed by a board of local ratepayers, with a full-time CEO working on behalf of every business in the BID area
Additional, not instead of — the BID supplements Council services; it never replaces them
